So Saturday morning at 2am
Adlanna was screaming from her bedroom, come to find out she had an
ouchie on her "bum" (front bum if you will) and then her tummy and then her bum and back and forth, we checked no rash, she went to go potty but
refused to go. It was sad. We put her in a baking soda bath for 10
Min's to soak and she said better, so we got her out and she started crying again so we put on some medicine to make her feel better (including
motrin) and finally got her to sleep again, the next day she kept having accidents because she wouldn't go on the potty.. because when she did it HURT. So we pumped her full of cranberry juice enough that we had to wear pulls ups because she peed like every 10
Min's LOL and we gave her another soak around lunch and another at bedtime, Then again on Sunday. Monday morning she cried the first time she peed and didn't cry the second time, but on Sunday she was only sad about half the time. I was afraid it wasn't going away and that
UTI's can spread to kidneys so I scheduled a
Dr. appointment and took her in.
the
Dr. said she HAD one but it was gone good job with the cranberry juice. The potty training puts the kids at an increased risk for
UTI's and that's how it is. The only thing is if she is learning to wipe herself and wiped the wrong way, or if she sat in a bath too long the anal bacteria can make its way into the bladder (yuck, sorry if
TMI) well I don't think either of that is what caused this but something had to so *shrug* who knows, but we are going to be super careful about wiping now since it has happened.
The
Dr also gave me other information I find
value able so I'll jot it down for my knowledge to
reference later.
1. babies can get them by wiping with baby wipes too much,-
ie. even when they only pee
2. some kids get them often and they have something
anatomically incorrect and need to see a specialist...
That's all. Thanks for making it through this post. Today no pain at all so far, we are going to continue to do cranberry juice and after the
Dr yesterday I stopped and got some D-
Mannose from the heath food store to use and try. We plan on doing it with the cranberry for AT least today then
I'll decide by gut instinct.
:)
So glad it wasn't worse!
